Tencent, founded in Shenzhen in 1998, operates WeChat and QQ, is one of the world's largest video game publishers, and holds stakes in many global game studios. Its AI lab develops the Hunyuan large language models and the TranSmart interactive machine translation system, and Tencent Cloud sells translation and speech APIs. Because so much of its revenue comes from games published worldwide, Tencent is a significant driver of demand for game localization and a signal for the games side of the language industry.
