Perspectives : les compétences de l'avenir dans l’industrie des langues
Why this matters
- Increased focus on professional development for localization professionals.
- Collaboration between industry and academia to bridge skills gap.
- New AI training programs to enhance workforce competencies.
In a significant industry initiative, the Association of Translation Companies (ATC) has partnered with several key organizations, including the European Language Industry Association (ELIA), to address the future skills needed in the language sector. A recent global debate revealed that 47% of language professionals feel unprepared for ongoing changes, highlighting a critical skills gap that needs to be addressed.
This finding underscores the urgent need for continuous professional development in localization and language services. Participants emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities, industry associations, and language service providers to equip the next generation of professionals with the necessary competencies. In response, the ACIL is launching an AI-focused training program in collaboration with Magic Beans Agency, aimed at enhancing skills relevant to modern language workflows.
For localization professionals, this initiative serves as a reminder to prioritize ongoing education and adapt to technological advancements, ensuring they remain competitive in an evolving market landscape.
